Bullying Prevention

As we all know, bullying is one of the biggest problems our world faces today. If children are bullied it won't just hurt them at the moment, but long after. People grow tired and bored once hearing about this topic over and over again. Therefore, instead of just talking about it we need to take action. Sadly, there isn't a magical way to stop bullying altogether, but we can all contribute to making a change.

A major way to prevent bullying is to be kind. Lift someone up instead of tear them down. If you see someone being bullied, don't stay quiet. Tell an adult or stand up for the victim, but make sure to help them out. If at least one person did this a day, the world would gradually become a better and safer place.

Bullying Statistics

Statistics conducted in 2014 put the topic of bullying into perspective. In a recent survey, 10,000 children were interviewed. Once again, cyber-bullying is the big concern. 7 in 10 young people are victims of cyber-bullying. It is more likely to be harassed on Facebook than any other social media website. 37% of people experience extreme cyber-bullying on a daily basis.

On the bright side, some positive statistics have been uncovered lately. More children are showing an understanding of what bullying is, and how to prevent it. Less children are expressing feelings of low self esteem and a large percentage have the desire to remain survivors against bullies. 67% of children are confiding in their parents about this issue. Hopefully, more positive will be brought up through the years. This may lead to less acts of bullying.

Forms of Bullying

Unfortunately, bullying isn't just happening face to face. There are many forms and many ways it can occur. The most common form is cyber-bullying. This is when the bully attacks a victim behind a form of technology. It is the most popular, because it allows a sense of security for the abuser. They think that if no one can actually see them committing violent acts, they can't be held accountable.

Cyber-bullying is by far the most cowardly way to abuse a person. However, it isn't the only method people use. Forms of bullying include: verbal, sexual, social, psychological, racial, and physical. These examples are just a few among many. Bullying can also be acts committed that people didn't know fell under that category. For example, stealing and damaging property is considered bullying.

Bullying Introduction

Bullying is an issue that affects millions of people on a daily basis. No matter how you spin it, bullying is a tragic topic. Everyday it seems the word "bullying"is brought up. Whether you hear it, use it, cause it, or become a victim of it…somehow it plays a part in everyone's life. Sadly, this issue is far from going away, and is probably among the most controversial.

There is a great chance that most people have played a part in bullying. Can you remember the last time you teased someone, even in the smallest way? When was the last time you hit someone, even jokingly? Certain people take offense to these acts, and each one is considered bullying. Think before you act toward people, and remember to treat them how you would want to be treated.
